Fall semester: Level A0 (true beginners)
Spring semester: Level A1 (advanced beginners)
IN-PERSON CLASS
Saturdays, 9:30 AM – 12 PM
This course is designed for German learners with no prior experience in fall (beginner), and some knowledge in spring (advanced beginners, incl. continuing students from the fall semester).
The primary focus is to develop communication skills and introduce commonly used vocabulary. Students will practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing in every lesson, with grammar explained and integrated. Cultural aspects of Germany—such as geography and traditions—are also incorporated to enrich the learning experience.
The class will work with a textbook along with additional class materials. To get the full benefit of the class, students will need to set up an account with allango.net, the online platform for ” Netzwerk Neu” that delivers the textbook’s video and audio files, exercises, and more.
Regular practice during the week is required to keep up with the class.

ADULT INTERMEDIATE
Level A1 – A2
IN-PERSON CLASS
Saturdays, 9:30 AM – 12 PM
This class is for students who have prior experience with German, whether through previous classes (at least 1 year) or other exposure to the language. Students should be comfortable with basic understanding and simple conversations. The course will use a textbook along with additional resources to improve grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills.
To get the full benefit of the class, students will need to set up an account with mein.cornelsen.de, the online platform for “Das Leben” that delivers the textbook’s video and audio files, exercises, and more. Registered students will receive their book in class; the costs are included in the tuition.
Regular practice during the week is highly recommended to progress.

ADULT ADVANCED
Level B1+: “Deutsch Aktuell”
ONLINE CLASS
Saturdays, 9:30 AM – 12 PM
This class is designed for advanced students who are already comfortable with German, able to understand and communicate effectively. These students are ready to expand their vocabulary and explore more complex grammar topics.
Der Schwerpunkt dieser Klasse liegt bei “Themen des Tages”, Artikel über aktuelle Themen und Ereignisse in Deutschland. Diese Artikel sind manchmal direkt aus dem Internet, manchmal verkürzt und vereinfacht. Der kulturelle und gesellschaftliche Kontext wird erläutert und diskutiert. Die Teilnehmer werden aufgefordert zu lesen, fragen, antworten und diskutieren. Neue Wörter und Ausdrücke werden erklärt und dann geübt. Manchmal ergibt sich eine Erklärung der Grammatik anhand der gegebenen Beispiele, was gelegentlich zu einer ausführlichen Übung führt. Zusätzlich gibt es eine Lektüre, z.B. eine Biografie oder eine Kurzgeschichte, die zum Sprechen und Gedankenaustausch anregt.
