Pre-K/TK + Kindergarten

1. PRE-K / TK

Ages: Min. 3.5 – 5 years old.

Class Description: The Pre-K class will follow themes of the seasons and festivities of the year. The children will learn traditional and modern German songs, enjoy games, circle time, crafts, and a good snack. They will expand their vocabulary of animals, body parts, colors, foods, and other relevant topics in a fun and playful manner.

Pre-K/TK Prerequisites (no exceptions):

  1. Children must be completely toilet trained. No pull-ups.
  2. Children must be born on or before July 11, 2016, for the spring semester. GSEB will ask for age verification before school starts.
  3. Children must be able to be without a parent for the duration of the class (2.5 hours). If your child is not used to a preschool setting, this will most likely be too long.

! It is important for your child to have a good time at GSEB. Please wait with registering until she/he fulfills all prerequisites. There will be no tuition refund or roll-over to the next semester for kids that are not ready on the first day of school.

Class Time:
09:30 am – 12:00 pm

This class does not distinguish between German Heritage Speakers and German Language Learners.

Minimum enrollment: 6

Kindergarteners will be dropped off by their parents for 2.5 hours of class time, including a 15-minute in-classroom snack break. The class is exclusively taught in German, and while songs, stories, books, poems, Fingerspiele (finger games) and seasonal crafts will feel like pure fun to the students, these activities will also foster German phonological awareness and prepare the students for reading and writing German in the subsequent grades. During the school year, the students will get to know all German letters.

Depending on enrollment we offer 1 class for all levels or 2 classes, 1 for German Heritage Speakers and 1 for German Language Learners.

Prerequisites: Children must also be in Kindergarten (US school system) in order to enroll in this class. No preschoolers!

Minimum enrollment: 6
